Abstract

Accurate and up-to-date road safety attributes such as speed limits, traffic signs and traffic regulation messages are essential for road authorities and for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, to ensure efficient road operation and administration, and safe driving along the European road network. The supply of high quality data constitutes a difficulty for large-scale exploitation of in-vehicle road safety applications. For that reason, the ROSATTE project intends to develop the infrastructure that will ensure European access to road safety attributes including incremental updates. This paper presents the state-of-the art study conducted on the development levels of road databases in European countries.
