Abstract
This paper presents an overall architecture for a technology infrastructure involving road safety attribute exchange between road authorities and digital map providers in Europe. The architecture considers diverse organizational structures related to road data management and variations in integration level of high-quality road safety attributes in road network databases. This paper proposes an architecture that can be useful for any organizational structure and guidelines recommending how maintenance and exchange of such attributes may be done in a quality-assured and effective manner. The proposed architecture will be tested and validated in several test sites across Europe providing hands-on experiences from the proposed infrastructure.
