Abstract
San Diego Metropolitan Transit Development Board and North County Transit District will soon receive Cubic's first web-based transit ticketing and customer service function as part of a contract under which Cubic is supplying a regional integrated smart card-based automatic fare collection system for the county's transit network. The article examines the ways fare collection systems are enhanced by a number of new features, including web-based ticketing and information services which make life easier for passengers and transit operators.
