Abstract

This article describes the experiences of a few Army officers who spent a few months familiarizing themselves with an automated Buick LeSabre. The article also presents the remarks of Hank Dittmar of the Surface Transportation Policy Project who says that all a smart highway does is slave the vehicle to the highway. The article concludes with a technical description of Demo '97 which was presented by the National Automated Highway System Consortium
