Abstract

The vibration response data of a high rise pier is evaluated to analyse the river stream interaction with the structure. High water elevation led to pier types on protruding steel pipe pile foundations. The river stream forces on the pier foundation are resisted by the structural flexibility. Flexible piers with bridge superstructures on their tops are susceptible to vibration. The modal analysis is based on the measured vibration at pier top. A mathematical approach is used to simulate force and motion effects by verification of actual and calculated responses. The pier is assumed to be a free standing cantilever with equivalent height to the point of fixity. For the covering entry of this conference, see IRRD abstract number 843191.
