Abstract
This paper describes construction and operation of a 823-mile, 42-in. gas pipeline, which is the eastern leg in the US of the Alaska Highway Gas Pipeline Project. Presents map showing the location of the line, compressor stations, district offices, and microwave stations in the communications system that also includes a UHF radio network. Points out that gas composition will be analyzed by on-site gas chromatographs and Btu content calculated on a continuing basis. Reports that plans to extend the pipeline, which now goes from Montana to Iowa, another 308 miles to Illinois are still on hold.
