Abstract

In uninterrupted traffic, the properties - volume, speed and concentration - generally suffice to describe traffic conditions. On occasion these may be supplemented by headway, spacing and occupancy. These properties bear clearly defined relationships with each other, and it is not necessary to measure all of them since some can be deduced from others.
