Abstract
This paper reports on a study designed to evaluate the implementation of Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) toll lanes along the Garden State Parkway in New Jersey. The study included the following sections: 1) development of the methodology that would be used to evaluate toll plaza operations; 2) determination and evaluation of the existing conditions at the toll plazas based on available traffic counts observations, and evaluations; 3) development of potential toll plaza improvements; and, 4) determination of anticipated future toll plaza traffic volume processing deficiencies, and potential toll collection optimization and expansion programs.
