Abstract

POWERGRID is the third largest transmission utility in the World and operates a transmission network of 101,334 circuit-km of 765 kV, 400 kV, 220 kV and 132 kV AC lines and 500 kV HVDC lines connecting 168 sub-station with transformation capacity of 164,813 MVA as on 31st May’2013. Many of the assets are under operation for more than 30 years. To provide uninterrupted quality power to the nation, effective management of this gigantic network is essential. Hence the need to adopt innovative and best practices for O&M of the network.
