Abstract

In this paper, the author describes the current state in the development of vehicle telematics as well as reviewing its future development and applications. The application of information technology and electronic control system to advise drivers and provide vehicle control functions is described. The primary areas of application for vehicle telematics that are discussed include: vehicle control and drive assistance; route guidance; environmental protection; fleet control; and, road pricing.
