Abstract
The author first recalls that recent progress in the field of wheel-rail interaction is largely the result of long welded rails, and continues by pointing out that research workers now have special computers enabling extremely elaborate models to be used for simulation of the entire dynamic phenomenon associated with vehicle running, at simulated speeds of up to 500 km/h.
