Abstract

The paper briefly describes the problems faced in setting up a workshop to produce mobility equipment for disabled and elderly people in Kenya. Transport mobility is said to be a great obstacle to integration in society. In addition to being handicapped by social, cultural, economic and political barriers, the mobility of elderly and disabled members of the population is also limited by physical environmental factors. Types of mobility equipment manufactured includes both folding and motorised wheelchairs.
