Abstract

The centres Waltair and Mandapam, in \nthe east coast and Cochin, Mangalore and \nVeraval, in the west coast, where biological \ndata on catfishes have been collected, are \nconsidered for the assessment of resources of \nTachysurus thalassinus, T. tenuispinis, T. \nsenatus, T. dussumieri and Osteogeneiosus militaris. \nLength-frequency data of T. tfia/assinus \ncollected during 1974-76 at Waltair from trawl \ncatches, during 1972-76 at Mandapam from \ntrawl catches, during 1981 at Cochin Fisheries \nHarbour from the catches of trawls, purseseines \nand gill nets and during 1981 and 1982 \nat Veraval from trawl catches are taken up \nfor this study.
