Abstract
Called painting with scissors, the art of decoupage (embellishing surfaces with decorative paper cutouts) can be easily mastered with simple and inexpensive materials, as this guide shows. The book is a history and practical guide to this art form. All the aspects of the craft are illustrated with step-by-step directions that explain how to select papers, prepare surfaces, choose the right tools, cut, glue and varnish. Both traditional and modern finished pieces are shown - lampshades, decorative boxes, and trays - that demonstrate the effects that can be achieved. The book is for newcomers to the craft, but more experienced decoupeurs will also find ideas to enhance their knowledge.
