To relieve commuter crowding, one of the longest new light rail lines in the country will connect San Jose to its bedroom communities and industrial parks. The 20-mile, $372 million Guadalupe Corridor Light Rail system will have vehicles similar to trolleys, and overhead electrical wires will fuel the cars as they run along existing streets. The organization of the project, which is very complex, is described. The management network with its several levels, and Caltran's adaptation to the project's needs are described.
