Abstract
A $600-million causeway is part of the replacement span of the eastern half of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, which will rest on the deepest pilings ever sunk for a bridge. Caltrans hopes that a $7- million demonstration project in which 3 piles are being driven more than 100 meters into the Bay bottom will provide information useful to contractors. Construction on the causeway alone is expected to last four years.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
