Abstract

Movable bridges are not very common in the world of bridge design; thus few bridge engineers have the opportunity to work on their design. The article looks at the need for coordination between engineers from different disciplines on the design of movable bridges to incorporate the design and installation of machinery into the structural fabric of the bridge.
