Abstract

This article outlines improvements made to the bus public transport schemes in the city of Dundee, Scotland. The local transport strategy was developed with accessibility as the top priority, better local links to the city centre being needed. In the city centre, five new bus interchange facilities were installed with improved bus shelters including real-time passenger information. The real-time information system is published as a journey planner on the internet and in public terminals in the city, with further static information points. Bus improvements included an on-vehicle closed-circuit television system. The bus interchange at a local hospital was upgraded to refurbish the carriageway area and improve passenger facilities.
