Abstract

This paper describes a theoretical and methodological approach to the transport problem of elderly and handicapped persons and it appears possible to state that: (1) on the one hand, the needs of the population with reduced mobility with respect to travel and their desire to use non segregated means of transport are very important; and (2) on the other hand, those needs and desires will become more evident. It therefore appears to be necessary to choose transport policies that seriously account for the necessity to promote rapidly the accessibility of all means of urban travel.
