Abstract

This paper discusses the political issues behind the regulatory reform of the bus and truck industries in Chile. Sections are provided on: a) the historical context; b) the early Decree Laws of the Military Government; and c) Chile's global economic policy and how this affected its transport sector. Some detail about the deregulation of both the highway freight and the bus services is also provided. For the covering abstract see IRRD 864463.
