Abstract
When designing a high-speed ship it is important to reduce the vessels resistance, particularly residual resistance, as this occupies the greatest part of the total resistance at high speed. This paper describes a theoretical method for the hull form design of a high speed ship. First it is assumed that the residual resistance consists of spray resistance, wave-making resistance and head resistance, and in their optimization, all components should be minimum. When tested in a fixed condition, the bow spray was diminished.
