Abstract

Transit websites have reached a large and growing audience in just a few years and they have become an important communication tool for transit agencies of all sizes. This paper addresses three issues: what are the benefits of websites to transit agencies; what are the keys to creating effective transit websites; and what are the next steps for transit website development? The paper is based on information collected from 47 transit agencies representing a cross section of the U.S. transit industry.
