Abstract
High-speed railways place additional demands on the track and its maintenance, such as: greater accuracy and stability with regard to safety at higher speeds; reduction or avoidance of operational hindrances due to poor track geometry, speed restrictions and track maintenance work; but above all, greater economy because the cost-efficiency and the competitiveness of the modern high-speed railway compared to other means of transport also depend greatly on the cost-efficiency of the track construction and its maintenance.
