Abstract
The $10.2 billion rail transit expansion project in the San Francisco region, with work past the 90% mark, should have BART trains running into San Francisco International Airport by the end of the year. The project, the largest single Bay Area transit investment since the completion of the original BART system, will bring rail transit to the nation's fifth busiest airport and establish connectivity with bus and Caltrain regional/commuter rail at a new intermodal terminal, and will, over all, alter Bay Area travel patterns and transit use. The article reviews some of the key improvements.
