Abstract
This article provides an overview of the Metro subway system in Washington, DC, primarily focusing on the love/hate relationship that a great many of the system's ridership embrace toward it. In spite of its failings and shortcomings, users of the Metro lament as to how much worse regional transportation in this metropolitan area would be if the system had not been built at all.
