Abstract

The council on highway and transportation research and development (chtrd) forms one of four councils of the roads and transportation association of Canada. Established in 1984, this council 1) performs in a national advisory role for highway transportation research and development planning and priority setting, 2) initiates and administers a research program, 3) provides a mechanism for the coordination of cooperative research for Canadian highway agencies nationally and internationally, and 4) performs information collection and dissemination functions. This paper provides an overview of the research currently in progress and identifies future directions and areas of interest.
