Abstract

In this paper the special type of constitutive model applicable to frozen soil is analysed. The strain tensor is composed of elastic and viscoelastic part. Former is related to the stress components by Hooke's law. While latter combines stress level and strain rate effect by adoption of norton-bailey law of power type. To include explicitely time effect, exponential law was used. The basis for adoption of these two laws was formed by expressing of creep strain rate employing concept of creep potential, which in particular, was chosen to be defined in terms of stress deviators. For the defined constitutive model, the numerical solution was obtained using euler method with respect to time variables, while spatial discretisation was obtained by finite element method. To demonstrate the applicability of the proposed model, some numerical examples were computed and one of them is presented in the paper.(a) for the covering abstract of this conference see IRRD 824029.
