Abstract

This article focuses on the justification for including rapid transit as part of an efficient transportation complex. It concludes that the key Los Angeles city, county and state officials have determined that a high capacity rapid transit supplement to the freeways must be developed to enable the freeways to perform the transportation job they have been designed for.
