Abstract
ON THE EXIT FROM PARIS, THE AUTOROUTE DU NORD MOTORWAY COMPRISES A CONCRETE PAVEMENT CONSTRUCTED IN 1964. BECAUSE OF STRUCTURAL FAULTS AND THE EFFECT OF TRAFFIC AND WATER INFILTRATION, SERIOUS DAMAGE HAD OCCURRED TO THE PAVEMENT, AND THIS NECESSITATED THE DEMOLITION AND THEN THE RECONSTRUCTION IN CONCRETE OF TWO OF THE THREE LANES IN THE PROVINCE - PARIS DIRECTION DURING THE SUMMER OF 1976. THIS WORK, WHICH WAS CARRIED OUT IN A VERY SHORT PERIOD, THANKS TO CAREFUL ORGANISATION, STRICT SURVEILLANCE AND A GOOD WORKING TEAM, MADE IT POSSIBLE TO TEST SUCCESSFULLY INNOVATIVE TECHNIQUES SUCH AS DRAINAGE TRENCH AND LEAN CONCRETE FOUNDATIONS, WHICH OPENED NEW POSSIBILITIES IN THE FIELD OF CONCRETE PAVEMENTS.
