THIS SECOND PART OF A THREE PART SERIES DEALS PRINCIPALLY WITH SERVICE STATION DRIVEWAYS, INCLUDING VOLUME COMPARISONS, TRAFFIC GENERATION CHARACTERISTICS, AND DESIGN ELEMENTS. STATIONS WERE STUDIED WITH VARYING NUMBER OF DRIVEWAYS ALONG MAJOR STREET FRONTAGES, AND AN INCREASE IN ACCIDENTS WAS FOUND WITH AN INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF DRIVEWAYS. THE ACCIDENT FREQUENCY PER YEAR WAS APPROXIMATELY THE SAME ON A PER DRIVEWAY BASIS. THE LEFT TURN ACCIDENT RATE PER UNIT LEFT TURNING VEHICLE WAS FOUND TO BE NEARLY THREE TIMES THAT OF RIGHT TURNING VEHICLES. THE HOURLY VOLUME PER SERVICE STATION RANGED FROM 6 TO 54 VEHICLES, AND AVERAGED 18 TO 23 VEHICLES. AT SKEWED INTERSECTIONS, SERVICE STATIONS LOCATED ON SITES WITH AN ACUTE CORNER ANGLE HAD A HIGHER ACCIDENT FREQUENCY THAN THOSE ON OBTUSE ANGLE CORNERS. /AUTHOR/
