Abstract
Over the past several years, using the systems engineering “V” process has been promoted in the U.S. as a way to ensure successful deployment of public transport Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). In fact, few public transport ITS projects have utilized this process to date. This paper will explore the effectiveness of using this approach in these types of projects, the challenges associated with using this approach and systems engineering (SE) requirements for transit ITS projects. Finally, actual projects that utilized this approach will be described.
