Abstract
A technique has been developed for using two standard size cargo barges to transport and install very large steel structures. This provides an alternative approach to methods of fabricating and installing deepwater jackets in two or more pieces, or to using a super size single launch barge. Some results of a preliminary study are used to illustrate the paper and to discuss the design factors which must be considered for the barges and jacket. As a shared professional enterprise, new horizons are explored in these latest developments for the offshore industry.
