Abstract
The existing problems in current toll collection systems on Guangdong provincial expressways are indicated. Electronic toll collection sytems are introduced. Based on this, the feasibility and necessity of using electronic toll collection systems to solve those problems in Guangdong province (in China) are expounded. At the same time, the technical and economic problems likely to follow the implementation of electronic toll collection sytems are analyzed. Finally some suggestions on the application of electronic toll collection systems in Guangdong province are put forward.
