Abstract
Objective To investigate the efficacy of fructooligosaccharide in facilitating feces excretion. Methods The experimental mice were given fructooligosaccharide th doses of 400,800 and 1600 mg/kg BW for a course of 14 days(counted with pure FOS).On the 15th day of the experiment, the rate of Indian ink advancing in small intestine, the time of the first black feces excretion, the granules of feces and the weight of feces were measured. Results The rates of Indian ink advancing in small intestine of mice treated with fructooligosaccharide were significantly higher than that of constipation model control group, and so were the numbers of feces granules. But the times of the first black feces in the three groups were significantly shorter than that of constipation model control group. Conclusion The fructooligosaccharide is markedly effective for facilitating feces excretion.
