Abstract

Led by new and expanded commuter rail services, 1995 will be a boom year for start-ups and extensions, reflecting the rail mode's growing appeal in urban areas. This article looks at a number of rail transit systems around the country and reports on their ridership statistics, equipment, improvements, and new construction. Specific areas discussed include: San Diego, Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Mexico City, New Jersey, New York, San Francisco, Toronto, and Washington, D.C.
