Abstract
Three-phase current drives offer a number of constructions, for example, drives with three-phase current asynchronous squirrel-cage traction motors and three-phase synchronous traction motors. Both drive groups comprise single-axle and group drives. The traction motors can be arranged in a transverse or longitudinal position. Intermediate circuit inverters with load independent dc voltage or with load independent dc current are used. The article contains briefings of tractive units which have been realized in three-phase current technique in industrial railroads and rapid transit systems.
