Abstract
A reference guide for professional and amateur interior designers and others who work with painted and applied finishes. This manual provides instructions on the materials, tools and techniques for treating or refinishing walls, floors, ceilings and windows. In the first of three sections, the book describes and illustrates such finish techniques as antiquing, dyeing, marbling, painting, stencilling, trompe l'oeil and varnishing. In the second section, applied surfaces are discussed, including fabrics, floor coverings, plaster, tile and paneling. The third section shows step-by-step how to prepare walls and other surfaces for the treatments you choose. In addition, ideas are given for using finishes and surfaces effectively to achieve harmony in any kind of interior.
