Abstract

A management information service for rational track maintenance planning by digital processing of track geometry data has been developed and implemented on the two high speed routes of Indian Railways using Track Recording cum Research Car provided with facilities for real time processing of data with the help of an on-board Fourth generation mini computer system. Besides maintenance planning, a data base is being planned to facilitate rational use of track geometry data to understand the dynamic behaviour of different types of track vehicle systems so as to arrive at an optimal track maintenance methodology.
