Strand-jacking has been used in the bridge industry for more than 30 years. The strand lifting unit's center is always the work-horse, whose per-unit can range from ten to several hundred tons. The focus of strand jacking equipment is moving from merely safety to safety, sophisticated applications, speed, and cost. The author describes strand jacking applications on the 1927 Carquinez Bridge, the Miraflores Viaduct, Bangkok's Industrial Ring Road, Rouen, France's sixth bridge, Germany's Nord Ostsee Kanal, the Milford Haven bridge, Hong Kong's Stonecutters Bridge, and Abu Dhabi's Sheikh Zayed Bridge. An insert describes strand-jacking highlights through the approximately 35 years the technology has been used by VSL.
