Abstract

The paper discusses a State of Illinois study under the Airport Development Aid Program which will result in the definition of an aviation system planning process. This process is an outgrowth of the State's involvement with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in planning specific improvements in the aviation system within the State. The purpose of this article is to discuss the basic concepts related to transportation planning that had to be considered in the design of the study, to describe the planning methods being developed, and to generate additional discussion of the subject of the proposed aviation system.
