Abstract
Today’s competition amongst public transport operators is very strong, requiring the operators to optimize operation and reduce cost. Easy access to public transport is a success factor - it must be easy to buy tickets and to get accurate route and schedule information. The passengers are expecting a continuously increased service level and the use of new technology platforms. New ways to improve and optimize the public transport operation is required and proper use of ITS - Intelligent Transport Systems is one of the key success factors. The most common ITS solution in this business is Electronic Ticketing – the operator must have a system for selling tickets and securing the revenue. RTI - Real Time Information systems presents information about departure and next stop on screens in the vehicle, at stops and stations. With Fleet Management, the operator has the tool for analyzing and optimizing his operations; providing improved resource utilization through exact account of daily operations. The presentation gives an overview of the various IT solution, the usage, and present benefits and advantages
