Abstract

This article discusses how Britain is attempting to attract more transit riders by providing improved bus service through the use of automatic vehicle location (AVL) technologies. Focus is on an automatic vehicle location and control (AVLC) system offered by Siemens Traffic Controls. Applications of this AVLC system in Germany are also described.
