Abstract
The authors formulate and examine a binary station choice model that incorporates generalized time. This model has been applied to the station choice behavior of commuters who ride the bus. Each coefficient of travel mode in the generalized model has been determined. The authors find that the index of generalized time is a better indicator of the route choice than are the unitary index, the total travel time, the number of transfers, and the total cost. Thus, they conclude that the station choice model incorporating generalized time is superior to the simple time difference model.
