Arizona Operations Action Plan (Phoenix Metropolitan Region)

The FHWA has identified ten “Opportunity States,” which includes Arizona. The FHWA is asking that each opportunity state develop an Operations Vision and Action Plan. The goal is to have states shift their focus to reflect operations in organizational structure and decision-making and to incorporate operations into strategic planning processes and alignment of resources. As a result, the intention is to have operations-focused projects be on equal par with build projects when it comes to funding allocation. Arizona through AZTech Regional Partnership began this planning process within the Phoenix Metropolitan area. The plan development process included assessment of key issues facing the region within the context of transportation and regional review of the operational status. The plan proposed key focus areas for the region to advance regional operations.
