Abstract
The San Diego Light Rail Transit (LRT) system currently consists of 47 route miles (77 km); Blue line from the International Border through Center City to Mission San Diego, and the Orange Line from Bayside to the City of Santee. The City of San Diego incorporated the LRT alignment into the Mission Valley Community Plan in 1985 with a multiple-use, land use plan, development intensities linked to the transportation system, the San Diego River, wetlands management plan, and pedestrian oriented urban design. The MTDB's Mission Statement to implement capital project on schedule and within budget is a challenge that has been achieved.
