Climate change threatens urban areas worldwide, exacerbating risks related to extreme weather events, sea-level rise, and other environmental factors. As urbanization continues to accelerate worldwide, cities have become pivotal arenas for the intersecting challenges of climate change and urban risks. This study explores the multifaceted landscape of urban risk identification and assessment within the context of climate change. It delves into the diverse types and nature of urban risks, their magnitude, and the interplay of hazards, vulnerability, and resilience. This paper aims to examine the emerging risks and the necessity of building climate resilience in urban environments. The recommendations put forth encompass proactive measures such as climate-resilient infrastructure, smart urban planning, community engagement, and effective governance, emphasizing the critical role of policy in addressing urban risks in the face of climate change. This paper serves as a foundational resource for urban policymakers, planners, and researchers seeking to enhance urban resilience and effectively address urban risks within the context of climate change. This paper can be beneficial in terms of urban risk identification and assessment in the face of climate change is far-reaching, with the potential to improve urban resilience, reduce climate-related risks, and create more sustainable and adaptable cities.
