Abstract
Nowadays, more than 50% of the world's total populations live in urban. Urban is greatly affected by people's activities and has specific environmental and climate problems. Urban heat island phenomenon and air pollution are the first two problems above all, which need to be solved emergently. To improve the thermal and wind environment of the city, urban ventilation corridor is introduced to urban planning in this study as the accommodation strategies in urban scale. Urban ventilation corridor can break the urban heat island circulation and help introduce fresh, cool air into the urban. It also can strengthen urban greening segregating construction and divide the vast area of urban to several pieces to decrease the scale effect of urban heat island. We give the proof of the necessity of planning urban ventilation corridor, and analyze the positive impact of urban ventilation corridor on urban environment and climate in this article. We also summarize some of the principles and strategies of the planning of urban ventilation corridor. At the end of this article, a study case of urban ventilation corridor planning is briefly introduced to give a new idea.
