Abstract

The analytical procedure of titanium in metallic chromium, ferrochromium, ferrotungsten, ferromolybdenum and ferrovanadium was examined by using alizarin sulfonate as in the case of steel, ferromanganese and ferrosilicon. A large amount of chromium, tungsten, molybdenum and vanadium contained in these ferroalloys interfered with this method. Therefore, the necessity of separating these elements was proposed, that is, the coprecipitation of titanium with ferric hydroxide was applied, and those conditions were discussed. From these results 0.002~0.2 per cent of titanium in these ferralloys was accurately determined after simple separation.
