Abstract

Continued to the determination of titanium in iron and steel, a new spectrophotometric determination of titanium of using sodium alizarin sulfonate was applied to metallic manganese, ferromanganese, metallic silicon, ferrosilicon and silicomanganese. Titanium in metallic manganese and ferromanganese was determined in the same way as in the case of steel without separation of large amounts of manganese and iron. Similar to the case of metallic silicon, ferrosilicon and silicomanganese, after silicon had been removed with hydrofluoric acid, titanium in these metals was determined by the same procedure such as the case of steel and ferromanganese.
