Abstract

In this research, a Coanda-drone that combines the merits of fixed-wing drone and rotary-wing drone is developed. The structure of the Coanda-drone can be divided into two parts: the main body and the thruster systems. Coanda-drone is powered by four thrusters, which are composed of four ducted fans and propulsion pipes. This structure is inspired by jet engines, and it greatly improved the thruster systems force of the ducted fan. The size of the Coanda-drone is about$191\times 121.6\times 121.6[\text{mm}]$and its total mass is 1166.7 [g]. The total thrust generated by the thruster systems are as high as 5428[g]. The effectiveness of the Coanda-drone structure has been proven by flying experiments.
